My blog experience

Hello everyone!

Today I will tell you about my experience in the blog of this English course. My first post was March 27, and my last will be this one on June 27. I consider that it was three months of publications in which, beyond my level of English is not the best, it served me a little to have a greater habit of writing in this language.

Regarding the content of my publications, I consider this was very entertaining. We start with the typical, making a small synthesis of our lives, to then write content about our preferences in certain subjects such as music or technology.

In some classes they did watch movies, and after they write a review about them. This was interesting as the films selected were dynamic and entertaining. For example the film Break and Roses was special for the class, since to have Mexican personages who lived in the United States, they used the Castilian and English. The film Pride was also appropriate, as it was directed by a British group, had a modulation of English simpler and understandable.

I think one of the publications that I liked the most was the significant photo, in which I chose a photo of the Chilean national team. I liked that exercise because it made me investigate a little more about that photo.

In a next opportunity, I think it would be opportune to be asked to write a story or a short story. I think that exercise would be quite dynamic and entertaining.

This has been my English blog 3. Thank you so much for reading! (:

Pride review

Hi everyone!

This time i will tell you about the movie we watched in english class,  Pride made in the year 2014, starring whit Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton, and directed by Ken Loach.

I like the film because is a faithful portrait of struggle of young people to be free and support a mining town on strike. I like to see how they could be installed in the society of the population miners, and to demonstrate that they could be a contribution, since they are people, they are any other.

My favorite character of the movie is Mark Ashton interpreted by Ben Schnetzer. This character is the leader of the youth group LGSM (Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners). I like the personality that showed in the face of difficult situations. A pity that at the end of the film was shown that this true person died for AIDS.

I like the way the acceptance of the people is portrayed towards the arrival of young GLBT. As it mixes great mood situations with those of drama. On other hand, I did not like that certain stories were not completely closed.

My favorite scene is when one of the young people begins to dance, and it brings joy to the people.

and you? What do you think of the movie?

A new experience

Hi everyone!

Today I will tell you about one of the academic subjects that I have enjoyed the most during this semester in university.

One of the subjects that I liked the most this semester was Radio l taught by Professor Elizabeth Bustos. I liked it because I was able to develop into a type of journalism I was not accustomed to.

Although I still like to write more, I liked the radio subject because it has meant a new experience for me.

At first I had to pay more attention to the way I was talking in front of the microphone, but over time I got used to it a bit more.

Radio classes are usually structured into three segments. First the teacher does a theoretical hour, then an hour of writing of radio libretos, to finally go to the recording studio to expose the prepared in front of the microphone.

At first we started making short news, then we started making newsletters with live dispatches, and we are currently doing live shows, with a duration of 30 minutes. Personally, I have played the roles of reporter and producer journalist.

And you? What was your favorite bouquet this semester?

CIPER: a great alternative medium

Hello everyone!
Today I will tell you about one of my favorite journalistic websites, this is CIPER (ciperchile.cl).

The Center for Investigative Journalism was born in 2007 in response to the need to use the internet for the dissemination of news that is not always thoroughly investigated by traditional media. That is why CIPER is one of the best alternatives medium in Chile.

The journalist Mónica González is the director of CIPER

As for its editorial line, CIPER is a means that publishes without limitations, which is why it has uncovered several controversial cases as an adulteration in Carabineros in 2011, which ended with the resignation of its then General Director , The irregularities of Sergio Jadue in the ANFP or the alliance with Wikileaks in the uncovering of diplomatic cables. The above makes it possible to deduce that CIPER is a medium that usually sets standards.
I visit Ciper every week, especially when he sets the tone for the media through his highlights.

As for its financing, CIPER has received contributions from COPESA, a media company of La Tercera, which does not seem affected by the content of its publications.

Rhythm and protest

Hello everyone!

Today I will tell you about music. The truth is that I do not have a favorite musical genre, since I like many genres. Today I will tell you about one of my favorite exponents in rap.

Video of Escribo Rap con de Revolución (La Vega, Chile)

Rap is a musical genre that was born in the United States, and has been developed in many different countries in Latin America, and Chile is no exception.

Within the Chilean rap, the exponent that I like is Portavoz, because I feel that he has achieved a great way his musical career, even when the mainstream media do not take this kind of music into account. Besides I like it because it comes from the same commune as I, Conchalí.

With regard to his musical work Portavoz has released two albums: Formato de MC in 2005 and Escribo Rap con R de Revolución in 2012. The latter allowed him to acquire more knowledge on the part of the Chilean and Latin American public.

The letters of Portavoz are characterized by a high content of protest, in which the historical demands of the Chilean people are portrayed health or dignified education. El Otro Chile is one of the most emblematic.

Parallel to his work as a soloist, Portavoz has a group called Salvaje Decibel, in which social demands are also key in their lyrics.

Currently, Portavoz is making his first tour in Europe, and is also preparing what will be his third album
Portavoz on his European tour with Manu Chao and some fans (Barcelona, España)

Picture that i like

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to talk about a photo that I like.

In this photo they are appreciated eight of the members of the Chilean soccer team, who are encouraged to run after Alexis Sánchez converted the penalty with which Chile won the first Copa America in its history.

The photo becomes even more special when it is perceived it looks
that the memorial of the National Stadium made in dedication to the political prisoners that housed the sports coliseum during the first months of the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. This memorial says: “a town without memory is a town without future”.

The photo was taken by Rodrigo Sáenz, a graphic reporter for Agencia Uno, who was in charge of capturing that magical moment of the cold night of July 4, 2015.

This photo I like because I consider myself an passionate of soccer, and I feel that achieves capture in a great way the emotion that many passionate soccer fans feel when seeing the first soccer crown obtained by Chile. On the other hand, I believe that the photo makes a reflection to the one who sees it on the disparate moments that have been lived in the National Stadium, in which on the one hand has been celebrated the achievement of a sporting achievement, and on the other they have been lived atrocious moments of political violence.

Break and roses review

Hi everyone!

This time i will tell you about the movie we watched in english class, Bread and Roses made in the year 2000, starring whit Adrien Brody and Elpidia Carrillo, and directed by Ken Loach.

I like the film because is a production that tells a labor revolt of immigrants Janitors in Los Angeles in the 90s. The movie relates the organization of workers against unfair labor situations.

My favorite characters are Sam interpreted by Adrien Brody. This character is the leader of janitor´s revolt. I like that you have urged the janitors to be revealed in the face of labor injustice.

I like the way the film tells the events, but I don´t like that has not closed well the story of each character.

My favorite scene is when the workers intervened in a business meeting in building.

And what do you think of this movie?

What is my favorite piece of technology?

Hello everyone!

Technology is something that has good and bad things for humans. On the one hand it can make life easier for them, while on the other it can replace them in the worckplace.
Today I will tell you about technology piece that I like.

Although there should be a lot more useful technologies for our day to day, if there is something we like to almost everyone is the music.  That's why my favorite technological pieces are the ones that allow us to listen to music.

I remember when I was a kid I had a small portable radio, Battery operated, In which he spent the time listening to music.

Then came the mp3 and mp4 players, which had the advantage of being able to select the    music they listened to. In addition they also had radio.
Nowadays, both the functions of music players and radio players have been absorbed by cell phones. This seems fine to me, since it is a device that fulfills multiple functions.
I usually take this technology on my trips in Transantiago, except when I have something to read. If it did not exist, maybe we would have a life with less rhythm.
